Statement of Solidarity - HEP

June 9, 2020

Esteemed colleagues

The SRJC High School Equivalency Program (HEP) staff humbly joins our Black/African American brothers and sisters in voice, spirit, and solidarity.  We embrace this time as a moment of self-reflection and an opportunity to learn, grow and change decades of unconscious bias that we carry deep inside.  We commit to educate ourselves and be part of the change, to unite and support one another.  We applaud Dr. Anna Valdez for starting this conversation and all others who have followed.  Although these are times of overwhelming uncertainty, fear, anger, and rage, we are witnessing an astounding movement of unity against systematic racism across the globe; let this modified chant ignite our souls and continue to advocate for the human rights of our Black/African American brothers and sisters.

NOT IN OUR WORLD- NOT ON OUR WATCH!

In solidarity, HEP TEAM
