Statement of Solidarity - Shone Farm

June 9, 2020

The staff at Shone Farm wish to add our voices to those making a public commitment to fight racism and oppression and to promote equity on campus and in our community. We are deeply saddened by the systemic oppression and tragic abuses that have occurred since the founding of the nation highlighted most recently by the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and (horribly) others whose names are less well-known. American agriculture has frequently relied on violent racism and systemic oppression. We humbly pledge to be part of the solution and to work to ensure that Shone Farm is a safe space for Black people, Indigenous people, and all people of color.
