PRESIDENT'S MONTHLY BOARD REPORT- JANUARY 2017

President Frank Chong gave the following President's report at their Jan. 10, 2017 meeting:
 
  • He met with the North Bay Business Journal to recognize and honor the SRJC Marketing (Business 54) class led by faculty member Albert Yu. They won the recent marketing contest in developing an ad campaign for the Sonoma County Humane Society. SRJC came in first place. Creathathon awarded them a $500 cash prize and funded a $25K ad campaign for the Humane Society.
  • Measure H:
    • Completed three Community Forums
    • He met with Citizens Bond Oversight Committee to review the committee's role. 
    • He met with the Board Facilities committee. He thanked everyone who has been involved in creating the Bond Spending Plan. He said that he feels it was a very transparent and participatory process.
  • He has met with Board members to discuss concerns students have expressed about continued access to education at a safe learning environment.
  • He also met with student leaders and those discussions resulted in an upcoming Town Hall that will provide up-to-date information from a legal and law enforcement perspective.  
  • He is also working with Board members to draft a resolution adopting and supporting the Classified Senate, Student Government Assembly and Academic Senate resolutions, to provide a safe haven for all students. This will likely be brought to the February Board meeting.
  • He welcomed incoming Vice President, Student Services Pedro Avila, who will be starting on Jan. 30.
  • He announced that PDA Day will be held on Thursday, Feb. 16.
  • He congratulated Terry Lindley on his reelection.
