Welcome back for fall 2020 & gratitude for your dedication

Dear Colleague,

As we prepare for students to return next week, I’d like to take a moment to welcome you back and to thank you for the resilience and dedication you’ve shown our students during this worldwide pandemic. Our entire college community has worked tirelessly to help students continue their educational journeys and I will be forever grateful for everything you’ve done and continue to do in the face of these unprecedented challenges.

I know fall 2020 will be not be a normal semester, but by working together we will get through it, as we have many other challenges in recent years. While our “classrooms” might be digital and our interactions virtual, I’m proud and heartened to see that our community remains hopeful and united in supporting student success.

Yet as we work in this new environment, it is more critical than ever that our faculty have the support they need to teach, that our staff have the resources they need to continue their work and that our students feel connected and encouraged to continue to pursue their goals.

Please remember that we are here for you and that we have a number of resources available for you and for SRJC students to rely upon.

  • The employee and student FAQ pages have been updated with the most current information on classes, working and learning remotely and more.
  • The remote resources page includes specific resources and tools for students, faculty and all other employees
  • The online student services page is a one-stop-shop for remote student support
  • In lieu of an in-person Welcome Day, SRJC will be holding the SRJC Virtual Welcome beginning Thursday, Aug. 13. Please help us spread the word with your students!
  • Please also join us for a plenary session with Lasana Hotep and other great workshops at PDA Day on Friday, Aug. 14.

While we may be working in this socially distanced environment for some time to come, I am thankful to be doing so as part of this determined, committed and united SRJC community.

In gratitude,

Frank Chong, Ed.D.
