PRESIDENT'S MONTHLY BOARD REPORT- NOVEMBER 2016

President Chong gave the following report to the Board of Trustees at their Nov. 8, 2016 meeting:

  • PetalumaFest was a great success. He thanked VP, Petaluma Jane Saldana-Talley, Trustee Fishman and the staff that helped.
  • Great Shakeout was held on October 11. He thanked Doug Kuula for organizing the event. 
  • He attended the Verity Breakfast and thanked Trustee Battenfeld for attending.
  • Agstravaganza was a great success, with over 700 people in attendance.
  • The search for the new Vice President, Student Services is progressing well. There are currently three finalists. He thanked Trustee Burns for participating in final interviews with him. 
  • Shone Farm has had $1.2 million in grape sales. He commended Mark Sanchetti for making Shone Farm a profit center.
  • Debbie Weatherly recently announced that SRJC will be receiving a $100 thousand grant for statewide leadership training.
  • Karen Furukawa and Sarah Hopkins announced that SRJC will be receiving a grant for $50 thousand for participation in a statewide leadership academy.
  • He will be attending the Community College League of California's (CCLC) November conference where Gaye LeBaron will be awarded as an Outstanding Alumni. He will also be participating in a workshop about supporting Classified Staff and Leadership.
  • He thanked everyone who sent him kind words about the passing of his mother-in-law. He will be travelling to Denmark to attend the memorial services.
